[侧眼看世界]Bloggers United, No Fear

The rumor has been around for about a week. At last, it’s confirmed that New Strait Times Press (NSTP), a listed company in bursa Kuala Lumpur and own by ruling party UMNO sued 2 famous bloggers – Jeff Ooi and Ahhiruddin!

The traditional printed media facing acid test from online media such as Malaysiakini.com , Malaysia-today.com , harakahdaily.bet & recently bloggers especially those like jeffooi & etc since 1998 reformasi era.

I still remember when our ex-PM, Tun Dr M launched the MSC project in 1992 and promised to foreign investors that government would not censor and filter the online content. In last year during online Chinese news postal, mederkareview.com, 1 year anniversary dinner, our Melaka MP, Wong Nai Zhi, still double confirm with his party leader, Dato Fu Ah Kiew, Deputy Minister of Internal Security, that government would not censor and filter the online content.

However, that promise does not promise you the freedom of expression, freedom of speech & justice. Jeff & Rocky now facing civil suits from the tabloid.

Last May when KL- Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall Youth organize a bloggers forum that invited Jeff, Jeremiah & CLK, was my first met Jeff face to face. We even had the tarik session after the forum. He is active in international blogger arena and he warned us then about the potential law suit from government or the related agency/body.

Less that 6 months, it happen!
