[侧眼看世界] Royal Belum-Temenggor Forest Reserve

Well, I suupose to put up this post long time ago but I din't just because I'm lazy and busy watching World Cup.

One of the oldest and untouched tropical rainforest in Peninsula Malaysia is under threat. According to MNS source, this complex of Belum-Temenggor tropical rain forest is older than the Amazon and the Congo rain forest!

The threat is from logging! The state government gave away the logging license to concessionaire to gain revenue from the loyalty and tax. However, it's understand that the state under value the rain forest and the monetary gain from the loyalty and tax actually is not enough to pay the lost. Some example of lost are: floor damages at the down stream, shorter the life span of the Temenggor Dam for hydro-electricity generation, and usual the bio-diversity of the flora & fauna.

How to save the rain forest? Just go to the site and sign the online petition when later will submit to our Prime Minister Dato Seri Abddulah Badawi.
